Backyard Wedding Bliss – Catchlight Photography

Bride and Bridesmaids

A backyard is a perfect spot for a rustic wedding reception. Depending on your space, a backyard wedding can range from small and intimate to a grand affair. Planning a wedding reception at home can be more work, and may even be more expensive than you thought. But, there’s nothing like celebrating your special day in your very own backyard.

Cassie & Jon had perfect weather for their backyard wedding. The tables were dressed with white table cloths, mason jars, and a candle lit centerpiece with beautiful greenery. The tables overlooked a beautiful built in pool, just in case anyone wanted to take a dip! The wedding cake was decorated with branches and flowers giving it a rustic look. The gorgeous chandelier above gave an elegant feel to the atmosphere. Lights were strung above the tables and dance floor to give a romantic effect.

Sam and Stephanie of Catchlight Photography, Siloam Springs Arkansas wedding photographers, had the opportunity to photograph this backyard wedding, and we are very excited to share it!

Tips for a backyard wedding:

1. Make Sure You Have Enough Space.

Call a few rental and catering companies and let them know how much space you have and your guest count. They should know exactly how much space you’ll need and offer options and suggestions to fit your needs.

2. Rent a Tent

Just in case the weather is not cooperating, you’ll have a nice shelter for your guests, and it will also provide cool shade if there is too much sun.

3. Rent a Dance Floor

A dance floor is a must if you want your guests to shake their booty all night. It is also a must for all of the women who wear high heels!

4. Use Lots of Lights

Stringing lights throughout the yard on trees, the ceiling of the tent will light up the space and give it a romantic feel. You can also use lanterns & candles on chairs and tables.

5. Have a Game Area

Lawn games are a great way to keep guests entertained while they wait for you to take your photos or for the meal to be served. Have games available for both adults and children, in separate areas.
