Beautiful Wedding Photos | A Southern Rose Images

Meet Rose Kee, one of our newest Featured members out of Louisiana! Rose specializes in Beautiful Wedding Photos including Wedding, Portrait, and Family Photography in Louisiana and South East Texas.

How did you get started?
My father was a part time photographer in West Virginia and Florida so he would do weddings and Arial photography and art pieces to enter contests. We also had a darkroom in our home where is did his own processing. So as a child I was around the art and his work. My first camera was an Agfa point and shoot at the age of about 7 and one of my first photo shoots as a child was of Disney World when it first opened. Yes I am that old. While In North Carolina I started taking photos with a Nikon 35 mm film camera at horse shows and events thought out the south. From there things just took off.

What’s your photography style?
I love all types of Photography, from Photojournalistic to formal portrait and fine art piece. Bottom line I am looking for the emotion the photograph can give the viewer . The bride’s laughter and joy to the tears of being over whelmed on her wedding day. For the viewer to stir a memory of the sunset as it hits the horizon and the breeze on the beach or the early morning fog over a green pasture of horses.

What’s a typical day like for you?
I start in the office early in the morning. Checking emails and returning phone calls. Check my web page and blog to make sure everything is up and running correctly. Then I check my calendar and appointments. The big thing is communication. I call my clients to confirm appointments a few days ahead of time. With Brides I check in with 30 days prior to the wedding and then one week. Then I check equipment and get ready for the day’s photo shoots. At the end of the day I start the checks all over again and make my return calls from the day. I never like to put off responses either via email or phone for the next day.

Is there a workshop you’ve attended or book that you can recommend to photographers just starting out?
I am always on the hunt for more learning. I follow several of the worlds’ top photographers and catch a seminar from them when time permits or online even. I also love to read on the old masters that are no longer with us I hope to never stop learning the art or evolving. From photographing a wedding for the album, to lighting tips camera equipment and angles. I think that is what keeps you fresh and engaged in photography. Also, any of Bryan Peterson books on photography are great .

What piece of equipment would you say is most important to you?
It would have to be the light. How its effects the photos from the highlights to shadows it can really tell the story and the feel of the photo. After that a good fast lens.

What do you offer that is special or unique?
Care and service , I want my clients to feel free to contact me and go over issues and what to expect. I pretty much have my phone with me all the time and unless I am in the middle of a photo session I pick it up. Even then when I am done I do call backs ASAP. So call or text me to get a fast response.

What do you love most about your job?
Hands down dealing with people. I love my clients.
