Meet Lenka Flaherty, NH Wedding Photojournalist

We are thrilled to welcome one of our newest members out of New Hampshire, Lenka Flaherty Photography! Lenka’s style is Photojournalistic with a combination of contemporary and a hint of old fashion. She puts her heart into every wedding she photographs.
Lenka shared with us a little background about herself and how she got started as a NH wedding photojournalist, her advice for photographers just starting out, and what she loves most about wedding photography:

How did you get started?
I started photographing weddings after a few friends asked me to be their wedding photographer. They liked my photos and asked me to photograph their special day. I loved all kinds of photography but I realized I really love wedding photography and started to study it deeply, taking classes at NHIA and participating in workshops taught by some of the best photographers in the country. I am shooting mostly weddings now for about 4 years and I LOVE IT!

What’s your photography style?
Photojournalistic and I ‘d say a combination of contemporary with a hint of old fashion.

What’s a typical day like for you?
When shooting a wedding, I am always ready 1-2 days ahead. I make sure I arrive early at every location. I like to be ahead of the bride’s schedule. After I get back home from a wedding day I immediately back up all files no matter what time it is……
When I don’t shoot weddings, I edit images, create wedding books and other products and follow my schedule with clients or meetings. I am trying to make sure I spend a lot of time with my family as well.

Can you recommend a workshop you’ve attended or book that you’ve read to photographers just starting out?
My last seminar was with David Ziser in Boston who is one the top wedding photographers in the country. His style, posing and lighting techniques are fabulous and I got influenced by his work a lot!

Fine art weddings from Jose Villa and Jeff Kent is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it to any wedding photographer.

What piece of equipment would you say is most important to you?
My D700 is an excellent full frame Nikon camera I cannot shoot without.

What is your biggest challenge as a business owner?
I am trying to figure out how to squeeze 48 hours in one day to be able to do so much more before the sun goes down

What do you love most about your job?I love creating images which highly satisfy me and make my clients indescribably happy. It fulfills me when I create a priceless photograph. I also love meeting good people and finding new friends through my business and photography itself.

What do you offer that is special and unique?I always take every wedding very seriously and put my heart into it. I think it’s very important and it’s how we make our clients happy with not only their images but also our services and friendship.
