What should I look for when choosing a wedding photographer?Search for reviews online about your photographer. It's a great way to get unbiased opinions from brides and grooms who are eager to share their experiences. Look for trends and themes in the reviews. It's a great way to sort out the good from the bad (and downright ugly). Also look for photographers who have many samples from weddings they've shot. I'm not talking about "best of..." portfolios, I'm talking about showing lots and lots of great images from each and every wedding. Checking blogs is another great way to vet photographers. You can check out the quality of their work week in, week out to see if they always get the same photos, or are they showing unique stories every wedding?

How can I get to know my photographer better?Consider and engagement photo session or bridal portrait session before the wedding. This will make you feel more comfortable with the photographer and how he/she works. You will get some great photos during the session AND your wedding photos will look more natural.

What should I look for in a venue in regards to photography?Some of the best wedding photos happen in the "staging areas" or dressing rooms of the facilities where the services will be held. If you are checking out a facility for your event be sure to ask for a tour of these areas. Photographers will appreciate spaces with little or no clutter, natural light or good ambient light and areas with a little extra room for equipment. If you want to have great photos of getting into your dress, grooms gearing up for the ceremony or family getting into the spirit of the day, you will be so glad you asked!
