Wedding Planning Timeline Checklist

Planning a wedding can be very stressful, there are so many details to think about and keep track of. Staying organized is most important, and having a wedding checklist is essential. Use this detailed wedding planning timeline checklist, based on a 12-month length engagement.

TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING:

  1. Decide on the size, venue and theme of your wedding.

  2. Create your budget

  3. Book your venue, officiant or priest

  4. Select your bridal party

  5. Draw up a guest list.

NINE–TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE:

  1. Start dress shopping for yourself, MOB and bridal party

  2. Book your photographer, dj, band and or videographer

  3. Book your decorator for linens, centerpieces and seat covers

  4. Reserve your florist

  5. Order your wedding cake

  6. Book your wedding transportation

  7. Register for your gift items at local department stores.

  8. Book hotel rooms for out of town guests (if required)

  9. Book your honeymoon destination

SIX–NINE MONTHS BEFORE

  1. Look for wedding favors or investigate charitable organizations if you choose this route

  2. Order your wedding invitations

  3. Don’t forget to ensure all wedding documents are in place

THREE-SIX MONTHS BEFORE

  1. Choose the reader for your ceremony and work on program

  2. Set up appointment with venue or caterer to discuss menu and floor plan

  3. Contact all vendors again to touch base with them

  4. Instruct fiance to take ushers for wedding attire

TWO MONTHS BEFORE

  1. Make an appointment with your hairdresser and make up for a trial run

  2. Send out your wedding invitations

  3. Make another appointment with clergy or officiant to discuss rehearsal, readers

  4. Schedule your wedding dress fitting

ONE MONTH BEFORE:

  1. Have groom plan rehearsal dinner

  2. Meet with your photographer and dj/band to confirm details

  3. Book your manicure and pedicure

TWO WEEKS BEFORE:

  1. Finalize all details with your venue/caterer

  2. Draft your speech

  3. Call any guests who have not RSVP’d

  4. Re-connect with florist and decorator

ONE WEEK BEFORE:

  1. Finalize seating plan.

  2. Determine the order for the procession.

  3. Have your rehearsal.

  4. Confirm accommodation reservations.

  5. Pick up your wedding dress and accessories

  6. Confirm details with the limousine company

  7. Deliver your marriage licence to the officiant.

  8. Have place cards ready and drop off any items to the venue

  9. Give out wedding tasks to the bridal party

  10. Make any outstanding payments to your vendors

  11. Pack for your honeymoon

WEDDING DAY:

  1. Make sure the best man has the wedding ring

  2. Pass any last minute information to MOH or Best Man that need to be taken care of

  3. Try to snack and keep hydrated throughout the day

  4. Smile and enjoy each other
