Actress Renee Zellweger and country music star Kenny Chesney were married on Monday May 9th on the Caribbean island of St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands. It was a small 15-minute ceremony, just close friends and family. Rene wore a dress designed by Carolina Herera.
Zellweger, 36, and Chesney, 37, met at the Concert of Hope tsunami relief event on January 15th.
The wedding reception was held Monday night in the gated community of Peter Bay at Chesney's house. There was an outdoor buffet and light music playing.
This is the first marriage for both, although they both came close at one time. Zellweger was engaged to actor Jim Carrey, and Chesney called off an engagement in 1999.
Zellweger won a best supporting actress Oscar for "Cold Mountain." She was nominated for an Oscar for hit movies "Chicago" and "Bridget Jones's Diary."
Currently, Chesney has two albums on Billboard's top 10 country albums chart, and his single "Anything But Mine" is No. 6 on the magazine's hot country songs list.
In November, Chesney was named Country Music Association entertainer of the year, and "When The Sun Goes Down" was named album of the year. His other hits include "Me and You" and "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy."
